Study upends stereotypes about autistic children. Being well-liked in a peer group was most important to their socioemotional well-being; for non-autistic kids it was the amount of time being with friends (like prior suggestions autistics prioritized companionship/parallel play).

Societal norms often force autistic people to see themselves through the lens of neurotypical standards, rather than valuing their individuality. By defining difference as a deficiency society fails to appreciate & embrace neurodiversity which is crucial for true inclusivity.

In a world full of systems designed for neurotypical people, Autistic people don’t need to work on their resilience. Some are already hugely more resilient than their peers by just getting through the day. Our blog post explains more - bit.ly/AGNresil  #Autism
