This is hands down the most beautiful place I’ve ever poured tea all over myself while editing out the rubbish bits of a play. My scalded screams echoed around the space with deeply impressive Victorian grandeur.

Go on - send your play in. I did - not expecting anything much to come of it... and tomorrow Glee & Me opens at the Royal Exchange, which is pretty much a dream come true.

It HAS been a wild ride! Thank you so much to everyone at the incredible Royal Exchange Theatre, the wonderful folk at Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting… and most of all to our amazing, generous, open-hearted audiences - it’s a huge privilege that you all came to see our show. Thank you. x

Even after 2 vaccines and a booster (and having had COVID last year) this Corona 2.0 kicks like an absolute mule. Seriously, stay safe everyone - you really don’t want dis thing.

Some days writing’s the worst job in the world… and other days, the Producers you’re working with send you a posh hamper full of booze and cheese just ‘cus they’re nice [and because they know you live SOLELY on booze and cheese]

So over the past 20 years the Met has been run by Sir Paul Condon and Dame Cressida Dick… SO looking forward to the next commissioner being called Lord Percy Cockmaster or something…? Fingers crossed.

Do A Voting! [especially if you live in #Wandsworth where a Labour win will send a pretty emphatic message to the goons in Westminster]

If you fancy listening to me gibbering incoherently about dark comedy in March, then maybe book this? It’s the perfect Christmas present for someone you particularly loathe, maybe?

Goodbye to the WONDERFUL Sylvia. She once (very graciously) agreed to do a reading of a play of mine - and she was impossibly, stunningly brilliant in it. We kept in touch for years after - and she was always so encouraging, hilariously indiscreet, and kind. RIP to a true legend

My wonderful Dad's just been diagnosed with Alzheimer's - which is a hell of a shock and more than a little bit scary. If any of you have any advice, words of wisdom, or access to useful info, I'd very much appreciate it. [DMs are open]. Thank you!

So I was just googling 'Songs used during CIA torture' [for a writing thing] and it turns out... they're all stone cold BANGERS. Totally tempted to do a spot of light terrorism, just for the choons. open.spotify.com/playlist/6CR0h…

Thank you, WGA. When we write for next to nothing it’s a crisis for us and our families - when we collectively write nothing it’s a crisis for the studios and their shareholders.

#WritingTips The VERY BEST way to make a great first impression at a script meeting? On your way out, pull your hoodie on the wrong way round - and, with your hood covering your stupid face, walk straight into the door frame, knocking yourself senseless. Total. Pro.
