#OTD in 1479 John Stewart, earl of Mar & brother of King James III of Scotland, was alive & well, but this is the last time he is mentioned as being so on record. By January 1480 he had been arrested, forfeited & executed, possibly drowned in a vat of wine at Craigmillar Castle!

#SporranSunday on a plate! Images of the 1743 mutineers of the Black Watch 42nd were produced globally. The kilt & bagpipes fascinated people. Linked to the Jacobite cause but there is nothing to suggest the mutiny was Jacobite-inspired. National Museums Scotland scran.ac.uk/database/recor…

#BonniePrinceCharlie is in town. Some say he's lodging with Lawyer Starkie, some say at the White Bull, and some say the Mitre Inn. And he's been out to see where the #Jacobites fought in the 1715 Battle of Preston.
