PowerShell has its own serializer. Why? Because I never trusted the .Net serializers. After 10+ years, our first major security bug (found with via a Red Team) was a serialization problem. Someone didn’t get the memo and used a .Net serializer - exactly once.

BitKeeper perhaps? Its main issue for FOSS work at the time was the license. If that had changed earlier, perhaps with a BitKeeperHub… we’d be in an interesting and slightly different world.

There really is no good reason for the continuation of C++. For a bunch of low level things you have asm, C, and unsafe Rust. The tools around C are way more complete thanks largely to work around the Linux kernel.
