Another great break on Cyprus with loads of class birds. Pictured Blue-cheeked Bee-eater, Cream- coloured Courser, Finsch's Wheatear, Cretzschmar's Bunting and Hooded Wheatear. Tibetan Sandplover was also a surprise. Great to see a lot of old friends as well.

Emperor is a common moth hereabouts but its nearly always day flying males, so its good to find a female in the Nethy trap now and again.

Finally, after 7 seasons, a Puss Moth in my Nethy garden. The 280th macro. Not a huge total in a national context but not bad locally.

I never thought I'd see an Oleander Hawk Moth in Scotland. Thanks to Martin Cook for arranging the viewing of this individual he trapped in his Moray garden.

A few more record shots of some the many birds this week in Cyprus. Namaqua Dove, Collared Flycatcher, Cream-coloured Courser and Baillon's Crake.

It rained this morning here in Cyprus downing many migrants - most notably Collared Flycatchers. My highlight however was this Great Snipe - the first I have ever seen on the ground.

Prompted by a Butterfly Conservation Scotland post encouraging folk with a lure to search for Large Red-belted Clearwing, I tried the Nethy garden. 4 yesterday and 12 today. Must be loads.
