Cannabis has been instrumental in helping me with serious sleep problems. I know others who have benefited in many ways. It's nice to see a large scale study that confirms some mild benefits & no signs of risk to mental health. Time for fed legalization! nber.org/papers/w32514?…

I don't take sanity for granted anymore and hence I was SO delighted to read about this one. It's a win-win-win for UC Berkeley, its students, and the city of Berkeley. Let construction begin!! (Great start for you Rich Lyons!!)

Very important paper on how privacy regulation harms small businesses. This dark side of privacy regulation is being largely ignored and should be front and center in the ongoing policy debates!

For those interested in antitrust and competition policy (and research), this is a very important and extremely well written paper by Carl Shapiro and Ali Yurukoglu: faculty.haas.berkeley.edu/shapiro/trends…

Not that anyone should care, but for the past two months I’ve hardly come here. And this is one primary reason: too much bullshit, too little value.

This was the right decision (full disclosure: I was an expert witness for Epic). Google's claims that they compete with Apple for smartphones is a red herring in this case; the judge's remedies address the anticompetitive conduct they were found guilty of. cnbc.com/2024/10/07/goo…

Precious. May he rest in peace and be an example of how one can spread love beyond one's own "tribe". forward.com/fast-forward/6…

I'm not Christian, don't buy into the God of the bible, and find my spirituality being closer to Buddhism. Still, the sermon from the movie "Conclave" by the Vatican's Dean (played by Fiennes) is deeply universal and so moving. Listen with an open heart. youtube.com/watch?v=rjug2k…

I have some corporate apparel from companies I worked for or engaged with. I got them for FREE. Who would actually pay for this?! (especially THIS...)

Interesting piece by Olga Khazan ME, BUT BETTER. The saying "it takes a village to raise a child" explains so much about today's modern world younger folks, many of whom were raised by two overachieving, overworked neurotic adults and no "village" around them. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

A wonderful paper! A complex almost 2-year (easy to understand) experiment measures the sensitivity, or "elasticity" of listeners to ads. A key finding is that if you stopped after a month or two, which for industry is a LONG time, you'd significantly underestimate sensitivity!

There once was someone named Don Who befriended a dude named Elon And just like two toddlers They ended as squabblers And the voice from the crowd went “egg on!”
