I’m having a hard time finding longer quotes of what Ivey said; everything quoted I’ve seen are strong religious opinions. To automatically suggest that it must be “serious mental illness” is… as bigoted as what Ivey is accused of being.

One of the under-emphasized tragedies of situations like the one described here is that public policy choices made in the name of "compassion" aren't even compassionate or good *for the man in question.* HIS life is much worse for being allowed to drift his years away like this.
