The recent Unity news only highlight the need for open source solutions. Even if they backpedal these changes, the damage is done. Right now the obvious option is to go with Godot, even if it's not 100% there yet.

Love Godot and what it stands for, but I gave to agree with some criticism. Nothing is perfect, after all. Maybe they can get some input from a UX/UI designer in this case
