Rye, clover, radish, and fallow plots in TN Valley. Last year, cotton lint yields were higher for rye compared to fallow, increasing from ~1600 lbs/acre to 1900 lbs/acre. We are beginning to move the needle on SOM after 4 years of cover cropping.

Side-by-side plots. Left is a rye-clover cover crop mix. Right is weedy fallow. After 5 years of cover cropping, the weed population has decreased dramatically under cover crop. Mainly just a bit of ryegrass here and there. SouthernCoverCropsCouncil
