In a Better Way we’ve been talking about the seven tests of Advantaged Thinking in which people are treated as assets not problems. ⁦@LacnNick⁩ applies these tests to Local Area Coordination’s work in communities. You can do it too. betterway.network/nick-sinclair-…

One for anyone who supports the @TrussellTrust #foodbank model. A model that feeds the most vulnerable people using only processed foods. As the article says = slowly killing everyone. #foodpoverty #foodaid #freshfood

Congratulations ANNE LAMOTT How glad we are that you did get clean and sober - for you and your family's sake and for so many of us who are continually blessed by your wise, funny and honest writing. Thank you so much.

Interesting development. £5 entry plus return train fare to London makes it a little on the expensive side plus we have the wonderful George Street Social nearby

Ironically they are knitting vegetables which @TrussellTrust don't provide. Why aren't they crocheting tins of ravioli or instant mashed potato.

Got five boxes of vine tomatoes for £15 for the food co-op today. We're a tiny charity but if we can get that sort of deal what could @TrussellTrust do with their size and punching power if they really wanted to provide fresh fruit and veg. There really is no excuse.

Yes - £15 for these beauties. Our members loved them. And also the strawberries, apricots (from FareShare ), lemons, avocados, plums and oranges we had for them today. The kids really love the fruit. Come on @TrussellTrust it's time you thought of them

"For a sane society, the most obvious implication of the ACE Study would be prioritizing the prevention of preventable adverse childhood experiences. A sane society would be asking questions about the very nature of a society and culture that creates so much trauma for children."

Shocking - but unsurprising. Hard not to despair sometimes at the way organisations and people with power get wealthier at the expense of the vulnerable in our society.

Thanks to Asda for 135 dozen eggs to give away to people coming to the Food Coop today. Always a joy to be able to give out the same sorts of things we like. Off to the Market now for fresh fruit and veg too.

Very sad to see this happen to a politician who has always stood up for the weak and vulnerable in our society and championed the North East too. She deserves better than this shabby treatment.

Met several asylum seekers at our food co-op today who said how hard it is both mentally and financially not being allowed to work. @patel4witham it’s time to #LiftTheBan and give people seeking asylum in the UK the right to work bit.ly/31czqI6

Who says people in the UK who are short of food can't cook? Here is the list of items given to a recipient at our Food Co-op and the meals she cooked with them. Its time @trusseltrust gave people fresh food

Thanks to all who attended the Bensham Food Co-op 7th Anniversary celebration event. It was chance to catch up with past volunteers and our many donors. We had news of marriages, children and work. Three original volunteers are now taxi drivers and two are training in nursing.

A good session at the Bensham Food Co-op today. Food provided for 125 adults and 94 children. Thanks for all donations. Thanks also to FareShare North East - today's delivery included included cucumbers, pears and bagels so there was plenty of variety for everyone.
