My hot take is that Hezbollah, Hamas, and the current Israeli government are all bad and wholeheartedly supporting one of them basically requires you to make excuses for blatantly evil acts

Harris today is promising to reform permitting to speed building projects. (I think this is new but could have missed?) "Projects take too long to go from concept to reality - it happens in blue states; it happens in red states; and it's a national problem ... China is not

One of the most damning intellectual features of our era, well encapsulated by Ta-Nehisi Coates's approach, is the inability to differentiate moral exigency from materialist analysis & strategic thinking Look at this bizarre exchange!

This is amazing. 62% of Gazans support a 2-state solution, 19% support a 1-state solution with equal rights, and only 9% support removing Israel and having a Palestinian state from the river to the sea. Gazans are way more moderate than British/American student protests!

My biggest concerns and biggest hopes for a Trump admin, with varying probabilities of course: Concerns: 1) Mass deportation 2) Tariffs 3) ACA repeal Hopes: 1) NEPA killed, broader deregulation 2) Housing reform 3) More high skilled immigration

Ultimately I think the main failures of blue state/city governance boil down to two main (and solvable!) issues: 1) Valuing process over progress 2) Tolerance of anti-social behavior to make up for institutional failures These are actually very intertwined issues as well

The intellectual senescence of libertarianism is tragic This should be their moment! Bad regs are causing America's biggest domestic problem. Zoning far outweighs any damage any other regulator ever did But here's Cato going out of its way to minimize libertarian relevance
