Ronald Ossory Dunlop was born in #ireland . He painted heavily #impastoed canvases with a palette knife. Towards the end of his life he switched to a sable brush. Even so his paintings remained heavily impastoed like #petworthpark below which went to the #royalacademy in 1967.

On temporary display in the crypt at Canterbury: Edward the Black Prince's gauntlets, originally studded with miniature lions on the knuckles (only one survives) - 14th century. F***ing terrifying.

One for the early birds: This middle timber in the roof of Beverley Minster was dendro-dated to the year 921. It’s been holding up roofs since the reign of King Æthelstan.
