I wonder if Meta seeks advice from independent (unpaid, non-conflicted) experts on children's brain/mind development and mental health.

Many 13 year olds (and younger) are already using whatsapp. Age limits are currently theoretical and the real problem is lack of regulation

'Social media' and 'mental health' and 'teenagers in the US' are not monoliths and it's not helpful to discuss them as if they are. Those who understand this are less likely to contribute to online discourse, because social media affordances discourage nuanced discussion.

Long time, no tweet! I guess I have been in denial that my PhD has come to an end. This is an appreciation post for my wonderful supervisor Jon Roiser 🟣, who I have had the pleasure of working with for over 7 years (😱).

RIP, Frans de Waal. His beautiful work taught me about the deep seated sense of fairness in monkeys. Now, whenever the young primates in my family fight over silly things, I am no longer annoyed but filled with wonder.

I support this call for the introduction of graduated driving licenses in the UK on the basis of evidence of the risks of newly qualified young drivers and data from other nations suggesting that it would save lives of young people and others on the road
