“None of us could hide our shock when we saw their condition - hardly breathing, hungry & exhausted," Mutwali Adam Mohamed, UNICEF's health officer. Mutwali prepared the medical support needed for the arrival of children from #Maygoma orphanage in #Khartoum.

Narine, UNICEF's emergency specialist, was supporting the relocation of children to safety. "It is hard to comprehend how the ongoing conflict of adults affected these little babies... This (relocation) is a moment of triumph of humanity & kindness over the devastation of war."

This morning, I visited a gathering site at #PortSudan. All over #Sudan, @‌UNICEFSudan & partners provide safe spaces where displaced children can heal, be with peers, and receive the psychosocial support they desperately need. Glad to see children being children again.

I have always believed we can hold space for attention for two tragedies at one time -- the Messenia and the Oceangate -- but the stark and very real difference is that hundreds of poor people are left for dead while state of the art technology will search for 5 rich people.

Cash transfers: the original behaviour change tool? 🤔What do we know about why they work? 💡What do we know about why they often DON'T, or worse, have negative spillovers? This #behaivouralscience resource certain to be key for anyone working on CBT in #UnitedNations & beyond

UNICEF Sudan - اليونيسف في السودان is deeply concerned about the potential impacts of the rainy season on already highly vulnerable children & families in grave need of access to lifesaving services, suffering from the conflict in #Sudan. We are preparing & will continue to strive #ForEveryChild

What we’re seeing yet again in Sudan, is a rise in horrific sexual violence during times of crisis. It’s a pervasive, yet all too often concealed human rights violation, which can have devastating long-term physical and mental impacts on survivors. unicef.org/press-releases…

No child should have to experience the violence of war. Not once, not twice. The escalating violence in #Sudan especially in #AlJazirah state needs to stop. Children need peace now!

The war in Sudan may have slipped from global media headlines, but the country’s children continue to be trapped in a child rights nightmare. What the children of Sudan need the most – like children everywhere – is peace.
