The most important #forecasting lesson that Troy Magennis ever taught me: "Forecasting is a communication field". It's all about communicating options, risks, and uncertainty. We need great communication to move our approach from deterministic to #probabilistic

"Raising salaries didn't change people's motivation - he says staff were already motivated to work hard - but it increased what he calls their capability." #socialresponsibility #leadership lnkd.in/gNad-kd

Variation exists. Chasing every discrepancy blindly without understanding variation is just being busy rather solving systemic problems #systemsthinking #deming #leadership

Monday, I heard a workplace “expert” talking about the new reality of remote work. “Performance expectations and standards must remain the same as in the office,’ he declared. There is so much wrong with that statement.

Trying to follow or build a company roadmap? Right now it might as well be: Finding the pegasus to fly you to the end of the rainbow to obtain your pot of gold. i.e. pure fantasy. Plan instead to have the capability to deal with change.

Great article on superb communication in chaotic times. Per Mayfields' research-based model, on top of direction giving, communication from leaders also need to address "meaning-making" and "empathy" #leadership #communication theconversation.com/three-reasons-…

It's such a duh statement that people often forget: "if you do nothing, nothing will happen". Might as well try something out to open up possibilities instead of being inactive

As the world changes, leaders also need to evolve their management style. But how? My friend and mentor Martin Aziz touched on this topic in his keynote on Modern Management. #leadership #management lnkd.in/eFCxhcJ

If you can clearly explain the benefit of Kanban or Scrum without using jargons (e.g. sprint), and instead focus on the business context and impact, then I think you will have a wider and more engaged audience #digitaltransformation #consulting #changemangement

Forecasting a stable system is simple, by definition - it operates consistently and predictably. BUT THAT ISN"T THE NEED I.T. especially customer-focused delivery isn't built using stable systems. We must improve forecasting unstable systems. How? by understanding context.

Nines in uptime is a #vanitymetric Many 9s over a long reporting period don't help customers experiencing an "eight" (e.g. my Rogers 83% this week) Real #f4p fitness criteria: 1) max (not mean) time to repair 2) min (not mean) time between failures 3) fallback options
