On Dec. 16, 1974, Gwendolyn Robbins became the first African American woman police officer in Alexandria. After a successful career, she retired as a Lieutenant in April 1996. She was loved by the community and referred to as "Christie Love" #AlexPD150th #BlackHistoryMonth2020

This week we laid wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery to remember U.S. Marines Cpl. Charles H. Grimm, KIA at #IwoJima75 & WWI vet & Alexandria Police fallen officer Pvt. A. Pierce killed in the line of duty on 9/7/30. We also laid a wreath at #tombofunknown to commemorate #AlexPD150th

It is with a heavy heart and deep regret, we report the passing of former Alexandria Chief of Police Charles Samarra. He was our Chief of Police for sixteen years from 1990-2006. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
