Finally my PR got merged and no more serialization issues are expected (hopefully) for OpenTelemetry Java Lambda agent: github.com/open-telemetry… Note that it also comes with some serialization performance overhead cut by getting rid of one extra deserialization.

With my latest PR, finally I was able to start contributing to the deepest parts of OpenTelemetry SDK by instrumenting core JDK classes at bytecode/instruction level. The PR is not too big, but fixes some of long living issues. github.com/open-telemetry…
