Very significant, as Govt says it's reconsidering the Occupied Territories Bill. Ireland has co-sponsored a new UN resolution alongside Palestine - calling on all states to respect ICJ AO, implement sanctions & ban trade with illegal Israeli settlements.👇 documents.un.org/doc/undoc/ltd/…

Will Govt change position & finally pass the Occupied Territories Bill? Time will tell - but it's certainly notable that Ireland is now formally calling on every UN Member State to do exactly what the Bill proposes. We are here supporting the amazing #WalkThePetition group who have walked from Kerry to hand over their petition to government, demanding that they enact the Occupied Territories Bill NOW! Well done for your continued work on this IPSC & Senator Frances Black!

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has threatened the people of Lebanon with "the abyss of a long war that will lead to destruction and suffering like we see in Gaza". This is an abhorrent declaration of collective punishment against a civilian population. aje.io/kcjzj1

After years in this business, I'm pretty hardened. I've seen many horrors. But watching people being burned alive last night, stretching out their hands for help. A man in a hospital bed with an IV attached going up in flames. It felt like a new horror, akin to a vision of hell.

Literally anti nuclear campaigner, survivor, Nobel Peace prize winner crying over the horrors children are suffering in Gaza. And he’s ignored, or condemned for daring to make such a comparison. #ToshiyukiMimaki

I will be on the Claire Byrne show this morning talking about the Attorney General’s meeting with Government parties last night. We still need to see the full detail, but I believe that the AG will give full, written advice next week. I am hopeful that the Government may

#COP29 has failed on climate justice. Once again richer countries are dragging their heels when it comes to paying the debt we owe for the climate damage we have caused. It is the poorest in the world who will continue to suffer the worst consequences of the climate crisis with

Frances is absolutely right here. Govt have repeatedly insisted that they will deliver on the clear legal obligations set out by the ICJ - to end trade with the illegal settlements. You cannot do that by quietly dropping the part of trade that’s politically more challenging.

Yesterday, Rubio terminated 5800 USAID contracts – more than 90% of its foreign aid programs – in defiance of the courts. Here’s a list of just some of the lifesaving awards that were terminated. Nearly all were Congressional mandated. They've saved millions of lives. 🧵

FYI, we have submitted evidence against actual perpetrators & enablers of genocide, famine & war crimes to the SAME police force. We NEVER got a speedy & proactive response like this. Something is wrong. irishtimes.com/culture/music/…

Irish Gov is ‘silent’ on watering down of EU legislation aimed at obliging big companies to stamp out human rights abuses and environmental harm. Support for a strong #CSDDD is more important than ever. #NoToOmnibus irishtimes.com/business/2025/…

Big week for the Occupied Territories Bill. Looking forward to speaking to the FA Ctte with Frances Black & Gerry Liston on the need for a full ban on all trade with the illegal Israeli settlements, both goods & services. Senior officials Irish Foreign Ministry in today. #PassTheOTB
