My dear Grandmother would often speak of the night “The sky shook” “It felt like that there was nothing in the house or on the farm that wasn’t moving with the noise of all these planes” “We had no idea what was happening but we knew it was be trouble for the Jerries” #dday74

I am stunned by the sheer number of planes flying on one mission. That is a total of 2385 planes. At the same time. That is many more than I expected. Think of the logistics of getting them all to the target at the righ time. For comparison, Ryanair has a fleet of 400 planes.

That was moving. The ‘missing man formation’, flown by modern planes, with the names of the 10 who died at Endcliffe Park. Well done Tony!! And remember, our little island is littered with similar sites, you may pass them daily, where hundreds made the ultimate sacrifice. RIP

The interior of the Keep is almost unrecognisable in this early photo - did you know that during the centuries it was used as a prison the Castle didn't have a roof? Explore the building's history in #SquareBoxNorwich until 3 June 2018: ow.ly/ASiw30idbkf #ThrowbackThursday

The Tower’s been cleaned, the paintwork tidied and the glass polished. It’s been a long winter. But NEXT SUNDAY WE ARE OPEN AGAIN!! Come and visit us, talk to our volunteers, learn about the “Friendly Invasion” and what happened in this small corner of England.
