When you look at this map, it's hard to justify the subway not going into Jersey City, Hoboken etc. Hudson County is closer to midtown than most of NYC, and yet trips there require 1-2 *separate* fares and often riding a commuter bus. A prerequisite for regional housing plan.

The mechanism by which housing becomes cheap—filtering—is extremely simple and intuitive and it’s unfortunate that left NIMBYs have come up with a useless thought-terminating cliche (‘trickle down housing’) to avoid understanding it

Market-rate housing is an anti-eviction policy: "landlords of rent-controlled units within 100 meters [of new market-rate housing] are 0.77 percentage points (31%) less likely to evict tenants after new housing is built"

Jonathan Berk (@berkie1) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Strict rent control ends up looking a lot like 1970s exclusionary zoning: whoever gets in first wins, and everyone who comes later pays the long-term price.

This gas station near a Metro North station is permissively zoned (M1-6/R9) and was included in East Harlem Corridors District to spur redevelopment, but I doubt anything will go up as long as the mandatory inclusionary housing applies. Why not see if normal housing pencils out?

Because there is a lot of interest in, and confusion about, housing policy in evidence on here these days: What every voter should know about housing policy 1. Rents reflect the balance of supply of apartments and demand for those apartments in a given area. That’s it;

Large fiber networks are hard to manage—fragmented data makes it harder. Alaska Communications unified network data through a validated migration, resulting in cleaner data and better visibility. Case study: hubs.la/Q03ZFZ350 #FiberNetworks #NetworkData #Telecom #VETRO
