XV Excalibur is the culmination of Project Cetus and is the Royal Navy’s first crewless submarine 🙌. At 19 tonnes and 12 metres, Excalibur is roughly the length of a double decker bus. The SDA is proud to deliver this capability to the Royal Navy and be part of the project.

We’re at the Navy Leaders Combined Naval Event. Colleagues including our CEO, Sir Chris Gardner KBE, and Deputy CEO, Keith Beckett, will be speaking during the event. Topics include AUKUS, combat systems, additive manufacturing and our role in the Defence Nuclear Enterprise.

A major milestone has been achieved with the cut and removal of Swiftsure’s fin at Babcock’s Rosyth facilities 👏. The Dreadnought Class will be the largest submarines ever built for the Royal Navy with a displacement of 17,200 tonnes. They will have: ⚓ 42.5km of piping ⚙️ over 20,000 cables on board which equates to 347km 💡 almost 13,000 electrical items
