XV Excalibur is the culmination of Project Cetus and is the Royal Navy’s first crewless submarine 🙌. At 19 tonnes and 12 metres, Excalibur is roughly the length of a double decker bus. The SDA is proud to deliver this capability to the Royal Navy and be part of the project.


We’re at the Navy Leaders Combined Naval Event. Colleagues including our CEO, Sir Chris Gardner KBE, and Deputy CEO, Keith Beckett, will be speaking during the event. Topics include AUKUS, combat systems, additive manufacturing and our role in the Defence Nuclear Enterprise.





The streets in Barrow were paused last week for a special delivery that is unique to the town. The unit is part of Submarine Delivery Agency's Dreadnought submarine programme with 4 boats scheduled to be delivered to the Royal Navy by our Submarines business. 🔗 baes.co/vbeu50W1sca


Excalibur, the Royal Navy’s first uncrewed submarine, was named after the Arthurian legend and an experimental high-speed submarine trialled by the Royal Navy in the 1950s and 60s. #FactFriday






The Strategic Defence Review reinforces the importance of our mission to deliver available and capable submarines to the Royal Navy in defence of our nation. As part of the Defence Nuclear Enterprise, we're helping deliver the nuclear deterrent as part of a National Endeavour.


A major milestone has been achieved with the cut and removal of Swiftsure’s fin at Babcock’s Rosyth facilities 👏. Acting as the demonstrator submarine, she will be the first UK nuclear powered submarine to be dismantled by the end of 2026. Babcock International Defence Equipment & Support Royal Navy
