Here's a little update on dear baby Miller. As you can see he was so weak on arrival, and his gait is laboured and painful. He struggles to walk on his enfeebled little legs and has to stop for a rest every few steps. Miller was very lucky that he was spotted in time, before

Autumn is a season that wants us to slow down and take stock, don't you think? It's there in the soft mist that wraps itself about the trees, in the dampness that drip - drip - drips hypnotically from the branches. Even the air feels thicker than normal, harder to rush through,

When the world seems a bit too loud and fast and full, I think it helps to remember that places like Milldale still exist, where the cottages huddle together in the hills, where the River Dove sparkles at the end of the lane, and where there are often more ducks than people.

Could you imagine telling anyone 20yrs ago any middle aged bloke who likes to put on a dress, wig or make up would be given unfettered access to changing rooms & sport (where women & young girls are undressed), simply because he says he feels like a woman. Regardless of the fact

I visit this wonderful tree often to admire her in all seasons and weathers and lights, but to my mind she shows off her true beauty in winter. Stripped of her summer fripperies, you can see every knot and whorl of her trunk, each line and bruise, the story of her long life

I spotted this overgrown blocked drain yesterday on a busy main road. I went back this morning and dug it all out, under the soil turf and litter it ran freely. Much better now

One of the many things I love about this part of the world is how the past never seems very far away, with time slips around every corner. I must admit to a little 'pinch me' moment when I saw this view at the canal basin in Whaley Bridge; it felt like I’d suddenly tumbled back

Expert tunneller and would-be escape artist Hardy had his heart's desire last night and returned to the wild a free healthy boy. The lovely lady who provided Hardy with a home and a wonderful open wild garden also took sweet Bronte, who was a lot happier than her admission photo

I may not be very popular for pointing this out but ... there are only 10 days until Christmas! 🫣 I don't know about you but I'm finding it hard to get into the festive spirit this year, and the dreary weather isn't helping much either. So I thought I'd do a Top 10 Countdown to

As you’re fighting to remove our daughters’ rights to the privacy and safety of single-sex bathrooms and changing rooms, while poised to allow the unethical puberty blockers trial, perhaps children should be protected from The Labour Party.

Every so often I like to share a ‘living’ photograph, so that you can hear and hopefully feel the peace of the scene, as well as see it. This was my view this morning, and I honestly never wanted to leave. If you need 15 seconds of beauty today, turn your sound up and watch the
