Ever felt like the global landcover maps were a bit lacking in urban areas? We used the OpenStreetMap database to make fine resolution LULC maps. The beauty is OSM is vector-based so you can go as fine as you want. Now published in Wiley Ecology & Evolution shorturl.at/KDbRu

📰NEW PUBLICATION!🐋 In our new paper in Journal of Applied Ecology, we show how 'not all maps are equal' when it comes to mapping risk..We apply the same data (bowhead whale and Arctic vessel traffic) to 8 different models, and find nuances in where is predicted as 'high risk' 🗺

“Species don’t usually go extinct at once, they go extinct one population at a time” another reason to focus on not losing populations and their genetic diversity. “and also species can be protected one population at a time, so local work is vital.” AliciaMstt The Coalition for Conservation Genetics
