“Abolition medicine, narrative medicine, & structural competency are approaches to #MedEd that give us the tools to understand both the personal & professional biases that prevent (doctors) from doing liberatory heath-care work” Dr. Sayantani DasGupta in The Lancet thelancet.com/journals/lance…
I really feel like parenting is harder when your kids are 18-22 than when they’re 0-4. The adult emotions and disappointing experiences that come into their lives that you have zero control over are honestly terrible to witness from a parent’s perspective. Tell me it gets easier.
Not sure who is most excited to see Indian characters in this fantasy series (it's a 3- way tie btwn my kid, Vishad Sukul, MD, FAANS and I)! Hats off to the multi-talented Dr. Sayantani DasGupta!! Thanks for encouraging my daughter to go on a mission to save the #mermaids!! Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival #ReadingForKids

Congrats to newly-minted MacArthur Foundation fellow, Dorothy Roberts! Read her incisive writing on the brutalities of America's child protection agencies and the system's destruction of countless Black families. motherjones.com/criminal-justi…
Genuinely, Alice Wong 王美華 winning a MacArthur Foundation award has made my day. I’ve been just grinning. I first learned about this award when I was studying Octavia Butler, who was a recipient as well. I saw in her archive journals how it positively impacted her life & career.
Here’s the thing about Jason Reynolds News being a MacArthur Genius (and also Jacqueline Woodson ) is that we, the teachers & librarians knew this all along. We, who fight, even at risk, to ensure their voices are in our space(s)… knew they were geniuses and we knew it all along.
CONGRATULATIONS Ruha Benjamin Dorothy Roberts Jason Reynolds News Alice Wong 王美華 !!!!!! So many AMAZING folks whose work has inspired mine in so many fascets of my life - such rockstars and sources of light and inspiration all!!!
