Bittersweet day! We have wrapped up our 2022 internship program. The summer felt so fast. Along the way these six up-and-coming journalists tackled all kinds of community stories. Today in BC A highlight of my summer and I cannot wait to continue this program next year.

Because Carleton J-School students in 2020 took risks, organized, spoke out & demanded transformative change, we now have courses like “The History of Black Canadian Journalism” in 2022. Without their struggle there would’ve been no progress. Student pressure can affect power. Raisa Patel

Congrats to Prof. Dave Tait, who retires July 1 after nearly 30 years at Carleton. Dave, himself a graduate of Carleton's BJ and MJ programs, started teaching in 1994 and has been a crowd favourite ever since. The applause for Dave at Saturday's gala was testament to that.

How to give feedback without being a jerk: 1. Be a coach, not a critic. Aim to help, not attack. 2. Don't assert opinion as fact. You're sharing your subjective reaction, not the objective truth. 3. Be honest, not brutal. Be direct in what you say, but kind in how you say it.

Something common to the female experience happened to me tonight. You know that feeling when you can sense something sinister nearby, even though it appears to be a typical day-to-day thing? Like walking by someone heading into a store or making eye contact at a red light? 1/
