I marked 500 GCSE Paper 1s this year. It was a genuine joy. Here’s what I learned from the creative writing section Team English: 1.Loved the planning structures (see below for the best). It still encouraged some students to attempt writing an entire novel though….

As I go through the reports from AQA, I see, yet again, so much reference to planning. This is why myself and Becky J wrote at length about it in #essaysforexcellence and why we wanted an range of example plans for the essays. Planning is transformational to responses.
