🚨 Another update on food security in Somalia: As the rainy season winds down, intense rains have displaced more families and affected 84,000 people. Many have been on the move since early this year due to unpredictable weather. More on World Food Programme's response from Lina Mustapha:
DG @Moshire & Director of Planning Musa Mohamed 🇸🇴 joined consultations in Mogadishu on WFP Somalia’s Five-Year Country Strategic Plan with FGS, UN & private sector reps. DG stressed alignment with #National Transformation Plan (#NTP2025_2029) & national priorities for lasting impact.
I have just spent a few days with the amazing WFP Somalia team to support the formulation of a 5 year Country Strategic Plan. Despite much progress, hunger is still a huge problem and innovative solutions and partnerships will be needed to save and change lives in 🇸🇴

A proud day for World Food Programme as we open the Berbera Logistics Hub, a crucial and strategic point for operations in Eastern Africa. Honored to do this jointly with my brother and counterpart from WFP Ethiopia, Zlatan Milišić.
Proud to stand with our WFP Somalia team in Baidoa, one of Somalia’s most critical hunger hotspots. With a high influx of displaced families, this team is constantly on the move, delivering around the clock. Honored to serve alongside these incredible men and women.
As the largest humanitarian agency in Somalia, World Food Programme delivers emergency food and recovery support to even the hardest-to-reach areas. However, as critical needs rise, funding shortfalls are forcing us to leave the vast majority of people without any support.
From emergency aid to sustainable solutions, World Food Programme is on the frontlines of the fight against hunger. Together, we can make the dream of a world without hunger a reality.
As drought in the north forces families to sell their assets or survive on one meal a day, conflict in the south is displacing hundreds of thousands. World Food Programme is responding to the growing emergency needs, but funding gaps are forcing to leave the vast majority without any support.
“Our life here right now is a mess,”- Fariha left her farm in Jowhar for a displacement camp. Successive droughts in #Somalia keep uprooting families, yet funding shortfalls are forcing WFP Somalia to cut aid.
I know what school meals can do. I was one of the children who relied on them growing up in Sudan. They helped me stay in school and opened doors I never thought possible. In Somalia, millions of children face the same struggle. We must protect this lifeline. World Food Programme
Imagine sending your child to school knowing they’ll get a hot meal and then suddenly losing that support. That’s the reality for thousands of families in #Somalia. World Food Programme's school meals impact children's access to education, family's economies, and local food systems.
