Really is lots of low hanging fruit available for the UK Government to encourage (not just un-ban) more onshore wind development in England. Look at the contrast with Scotland!

The new Fabian Society - Local Government and Housing Homes for London report includes a lot of great ideas to help alleviate London's housing crisis.
Happy that Jeremy Driver and I were able to add thoughts on estate renewal, building in the best connected areas, and using London's land better conciliocomms.com/stories/homes-…

New: London has a shortage of homes, but it doesn't have a shortage of golf courses.

In fact, London’s 95 golf courses take up more land than the entire borough of Brent.

Here's the case for building on some of them.

Britain’s housing stock is Europe's oldest. That's an issue when a building's age is the biggest predictor of how expensive it is to heat up and keep warm.

My latest post explains how we can insulate Britain's old homes without spending billions.🧵

London is in a housing crisis because we aren't building enough homes to meet demand - but it doesn't have to be like this.

If we chose to upgrade London's estates we could cut rents, cut emissions, and make it easier for young Londoners to get on the housing ladder.

.Sam Richards of Britain Remade says rebuilding postwar estates in London could help add more than half a million homes to London.

Building postwar estates to the gentle density of Marylebone would add 530k homes on top of the social homes that will be replaced too.

Edinburgh has one of the worst housing shortages in the country - but we can build our way out of this crisis. Regenerating and upgrading existing housing estates is a great place to start

Cumbria has a proud nuclear heritage.

But it’s been 20 years since nuclear power was generated at Sellafield.

We think that should change.

There should be new nuclear power in Cumbria, delivering jobs for the region, and clean energy for the whole country.

South Korea can build nuclear reactors for 4-5x less than the UK.

But to build one in the UK, they'd have to wait at least four years before they could even lodge a planning application.

My latest on how to fix that and get nuclear built faster.

🚨 NEW 🚨 Britain Remade research has found the planning application for the Lower Thames Crossing runs to almost 360,000 pages.

If laid end to end, the planning application would stretch 66 miles- 5 times longer than the road itself

This shows the share of global electricity production coming from solar and wind.

• In 2012, it was just 3%.
• Five years later, in 2017, it had doubled to 6%.
• Five years after that, in 2022, it had doubled again to 12%.
