Currently on holiday visiting mum and dad in Cornwall. Whilst my mum and sister did some shopping in Plymouth, I managed to sneak away to The Box, Plymouth. Great exhibition about Joshua Reynolds, saw Liz I’s Armada Portrait, and fab permanent collections. A perfect local museum!

#OnThisDay 28th November 1896, Magnus Volk’s legendary Brighton & Rottingdean Seashore Electric Railway (nicknamed “Daddy-long-legs”) opened. The single car “Pioneer” with its luxuriously appointed interior and had to be driven by a qualified sea captain, for it ran on rails

Almost back home in Brighton after a trip to Bristol - my first ever work trip! Very exciting meeting with Bristol Museums and Liverpool Museums about exciting future projects!! Found some time to do some Brunel-themed sightseeing too.

Great time at the private view for our Rembrandt show at Brighton Museums ! 14 modern young people + 1 old master = 15 amazing self-portraits. I was lucky to work with the young people to develop their self-portraits. Can’t wait for everyone to see it when it opens tomorrow!

Only a few tickets left for this talk by me on artists' palettes - the pigments they carry, how they were made, used, collected and became symbols of art and style. Wednesday 26 June, 11 a.m. in the Old Courtroom Brighton Museums: brightonmuseums.org.uk/event/alexandr…

Went to National Portrait Gallery for the first time today and adored it. Great exhibition about the wives of Henry VIII and it was fun seeing some familiar Royal Pavilion faces in the permanent collection alongside some of my fave musicians. Could’ve spent all day in there!
