Jane Featherstone 🇬🇧🇪🇺 At this point, I think we have to admit this is poorly done and poorly executed. The government needs to do better than this, it's extremely disappointing, and it doesn't fill me with any glee to admit this.

Ryan 🐺 @vickygrayson Breaking News: VAT on schooling removed. The president of Nigeria has signed into law a raft of tax reforms. Among them is removing VAT from a number of essential purchases. Including education. It really is just the UK now.

Greece tried it - disaster. Reversed it. Nigeria tried it - disaster. Reversed it. Will UK see sense? Doubtful. 🤦‍♂️

Current debt ratio is 100% of GDP. If things remain as they are, OBR predict in 50 years this will be 275% of GDP. This is assuming productivity gains. If we don’t see productivity gains it’s 650% of GDP. This is fucking terrifying. The Rest Is Money

I made a conscious decision today: do not use any photo of the Chancellor of the Exchequer in tears on p1. Many outlets will revel in her turmoil, but I just can’t and refuse to. My reasons are myriad: I know the critics will hammer me, but chief among them: be kind. Be decent.

The Diogo Jota news has rattled me, he just won the Prem, Nations League, and got married all within a month, and his life has been cut short. RIP 🕊️

Tory tears are fair game but goodness gracious when a Labour MP cries and no one reaches for the tissue box we are all the worst kind of people. I note none of us have said anything close to what he has said.

No fan of private schools. I didn't go to one, but this has to be the most stupidly vindictive & Venezuelan policy of this benighted government. Schools will continue to die by a thousand cuts as roles fall. Unemployed staff won't be paying taxes. Kids changing schools? Not good.

Hey Bridget Phillipson, how much cash are you raking in from Irn-Bru? Seriously, why shill for a sugary drink like that? Kind of a bizarre choice to push something so unhealthy.

FYI, the 0.1% dip in GDP in May may not sound like much, but it's been enough in the past for some to call for an 'Emergency Budget'... 🤔 What's more, it followed a 0.3% fall in April...

Not enough people have pointed out that Streeting and Phillipson are running literally opposite policies. Wes is trying to do academies to the NHS, Bridget is undoing academies. Wes wants doctors to be able to trade pension for salary, Bridget is banning teachers from doing so.

Liz Anan Kit Peacock asdfriendly Ryan 🐺 Nige109 dave lawrence 🐟🐟🐠 You might find this interesting… It seems that Ofqual investigated after BP asserted unfairness in extra time in PS vs SS last year and found that the figures were wrong. It’s actually broadly the same in both. feweek.co.uk/ofqual-probe-f….

When I met with Bridget Phillipson, I asked her directly if she was interested in leadership of the Party. She said no. She isn’t interested in education. That much is obvious from her poor decisions. She has other goals. 🤨
