I’m no US constitutional lawyer, but if inciting a coup isn’t an impeachable offence, I’d say there’s something wrong with your system.

This is a sad day for American democracy and for all of us who look to America for moral leadership.  Democracy will prevail over the mob, but the damage Trump is doing to American democracy plays straight into Moscow and Beijing’s playbook.

Let me be very clear: the scenes of chaos at the Capitol do not represent who we are. What we are seeing is a small number of extremists dedicated to lawlessness. This is not dissent, it's disorder. It borders on sedition, and it must end. Now.

It is *not normal* for a president responding to the violent occupation of the legislature to empathize with the terrorists.
