Come rain, shine, hell, or high water, Waffle House stays open, even during disasters like Hurricane Helene. That burden falls on Union of Southern Service Workers workers who make as little as $3 an hour. New for In These Times: inthesetimes.com/article/waffle…

A note for tomorrow: ANYONE WHO IS TRICK-OR-TREATING AT FIFTEEN IS PRESUMPTIVELY CLINGING TO THE RITUALS OF CHILDHOOD AT THE MOST DISCOMBOBULATING MOMENT OF THEIR LIVES. THROW CANDY AND KINDNESS AT THEM

Most iconic costume I saw tonight was a 4 year old who was dressed as the Virgin Mary, being followed by a harried mom dressed as the angel Gabriel who Really wanted us to know that her daughter was just. Really into Mary. And insisted on them being Mary and Gabriel specifically

My first supplement for Blades in the Dark is out now! Blades in the Dark: Deep Cuts is a 118-page expansion for the game, a treasure trove of lore, setting material, and modified mechanics I've developed over the years for use in Blades campaigns (details + links in the thread)

I grew up on a small homestead. It was a whole-family effort, and even then it didn't supply everything. You are never on vacation. The animals and crops don't care about holidays, they don't care about sick days, and they don't take care of themselves.

We are on ULP strike. We gave The New York Times management months of notice of our strike deadline, we made ourselves available around the clock, but the company has decided that our members aren’t worth enough to agree to a fair contract and stop committing unfair labor practices.

NEWS: The Boeing factory workers’ strike is over. After spending 53 days on strike, 59% of IAM Union District 751 members have voted to accept their new contract. The new four-year contract includes: 38% raises, $12k signing bonuses, an 8% match 401(k), and more. Strikes work.

Make that a *43% raise*. “The deal calls for an immediate raise of 13% and raises of 9% for each of the next two years, and then another 7% in the fourth and final year of the contract. Taken together, members will receive a pay raise that exceeds 43%.” cnn.com/2024/11/04/bus…
