Transcriptome-wide RNA binding analysis of C9orf72 poly(PR) dipeptides, delighted for this work with Adrian Isaacs, Rubika Balendra, PataniLab, ule_lab et al. to be out in LifeScienceAlliance! life-science-alliance.org/content/6/9/e2…
This paper by @Isaacs_Adrian Rubika Balendra et al. identifies transcriptome-wide the RNAs bound by C9orf72 poly(PR) life-science-alliance.org/content/6/9/e2…
Beaten to tweeting our paper by ShorterLab! Check out the RNAs that bind C9orf72 polyPR -we hope a useful resource for the field LifeScienceAlliance life-science-alliance.org/content/6/9/e2…
ShorterLab LifeScienceAlliance We show that the GAAGA pentamer sequence is enriched at polyPR binding sites
ShorterLab LifeScienceAlliance And ShorterLab showed that GAAGAn RNAs increase polyPR phase separation compared to a non-enriched pentamer
Our new paper on the RNAs bound by C9orf72 poly(PR)! Adrian Isaacs Adrian Isaacs Lab ule_lab ShorterLab PataniLab The Francis Crick Institute. Thank you very much to all involved! life-science-alliance.org/content/6/9/e2…
C9orf72 poly(PR) binds to 558 RNAs in human cells and the sequence GAAGA is enriched at its binding sites. Poly(PR) has nanomolar affinity for GAAGA RNA and this RNA induces poly(PR) phase separation. @Isaacs_Adrian Rubika Balendra life-science-alliance.org/content/6/9/e2…
Really excited about our latest preprint, where we uncovered a neuroprotective role for neuronal polyunsaturated fatty acids in FTD and ALS. Led by Ashling Giblin and Alex Cammack biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh… 1/9
#ENCALS2024 closed. Tack Sweden! Massive honour being recognised alongside an amazing young investigator Rubika Balendra. Thanks to everyone (pwALS, families, collaborator, healthcare professionals, funders etc.) for supporting our research UEA Research Euan MacDonald Centre MND Scotland

“I am committed to finding effective treatments for MND and FTD.” Rubika Balendra won the 2024 #ENCALS Young Investigator award earlier this year, and chats about her #MND #ALS #FTD research in our latest blog post. Read more ⬇️ mndresearch.blog/2024/08/08/beh…
Delighted to share our work, out today in Movement Disorders Journal ! We highlight alpha-synuclein SAA positivity in PSP and CBS patient CSF samples. Glad to see our review on the use of omics to study glia in ALS led by the superb Stan Majewski (not on X/Twitter) out in GLIA! PataniLab The Francis Crick Institute UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/gl…
Our paper on cryptic splicing-controlled protein expression, which we hope will inspire safer and more adventurous gene therapy approaches for ALS and FTD, has been published in Science Magazine science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
Out Science Magazine! New tech to activate ALS gene therapies only in the right cells at the right time - Increased safety to have more options for ALS. We do it by taking advantage of cryptic splicing. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology The Crick Oscar Wilkins Max Z. Y. J. Chien
