.IBHS Hail Study dropped a 7 disdrometer array east of Lodge Pole, Montana tonight. Teams are waiting for the storm to clear the instruments before going in to collect measurements. #MTwx #ibhshail2021
The IBHS Hail Study team collected data on a supercell near Lodge Pole, Montana on Wednesday. Understanding hailstone characteristics in the field allows IBHS to accurately replicate hail in the lab for testing to improve building components. #ibhshail2021 #hail #MTwx
#tbt: Throwing it back one whole week to IBHS Hail Study operations in Alexander, North Dakota. Teams worked 3 different supercells around Alexander that day. #ibhshail2021

Bringing IBHS Science to You: Last month, I shared Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety research with #HomeDiagnosisTV at the IBHS Research Center. Their tour will be featured during Season 3 of Home Diagnosis, which airs on PBS starting January 2024. Check out a preview: youtube.com/watch?v=DPx3DY…
@igiammanco33 IBHS Hail Study
After 3D scanning last night’s hailstones from Roll, OK, IBHS Hail Study has surpassed 200 hailstone scans! These data have opened new doors in hail science advancing understanding of hailstone growth, mass-size relationships, aerodynamics, shapes, how radar sees hail, and more.
Are you excited for the Twisters? See our IBHS researchers in action as they followed severe convective storms during the IBHS Hail Field Study. P.S. Mike Trout we could use your help at the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety Research Center or in the field! 😉 youtu.be/sRTBbQgYdDU
