The early Mormon leaders were developing a materialist view of history. This differentiates us from the Utopianism of the world religions.

Many of my fellow religious socialists have to appeal to a strand of thought that isn’t authoritative on their broader religion. This isn’t the case for Mormonism. The Prophet, his counselors, and the Quorum of the 12 Apostles were all in agreement on this issue.

Most Mormons you’ll meet will be apostates. Most missionaries are apostates. Most bishops are apostates. Is how it is.
