The strike on RAF Akrotiri last night is deeply concerning, an example of the dangerous and indiscriminate attacks by Iran & its proxies across the region. Our best assessment is that the drone was fired before the Prime Minister's statement last night on the US use of UK bases.

As a precautionary measure we are moving families who live at RAF Akrotiri to alternative temporary accommodation in Cyprus. I’ve spoken to the Commander of British Forces Cyprus this morning. My first priority is always the protection of our people - military and civilian.

The Prime Minister has made clear that the UK’s focus remains protecting lives, preventing further escalation and supporting stability. We remain committed to these aims.
