Something odd about this male Essex Skipper Thymelicus lineola this afternoon, then I realised he had three pairs of orchid pollinia attached to his proboscis.

Uncommon insects from Oxfordshire fen today

Worn and not that impressive but this is a rarity, plumed Fan-foot - Pechipogo plumigeralis in south Oxfordshire. Similar in size and shape to The Snout.

4 Gypsy Moths in my trap this morning, including this tiny male, smaller than a Brimstone Moth. Now appears to be well established around here.
