Please #retweet/#share for the #bees.šŸ™šŸ¼šŸ Again letā€™s talk about #honeybees in the context of ā€˜Saving the Beesā€™. Letā€™s cut the bull and cut to the chase as thereā€™s way too much confusion/misinformation out there which is a hinderance to & detrimental to genuine bee saving. 1/18

This week is #SolitaryBeeWeek and here is one of my great favourites of the British bee contingent - the long-horn bee, Eucera longicornis. We have ~280 bee species here in Britain, and over 250 are known as the solitary bees! If you want to learn more, Steven Falk 's field

Something odd about this male Essex Skipper Thymelicus lineola this afternoon, then I realised he had three pairs of orchid pollinia attached to his proboscis.

Worn and not that impressive but this is a rarity, plumed Fan-foot - Pechipogo plumigeralis in south Oxfordshire. Similar in size and shape to The Snout.

4 Gypsy Moths in my trap this morning, including this tiny male, smaller than a Brimstone Moth. Now appears to be well established around here.

Photographed this eye-catching parasitic wasp in the garden. Thought maybe Bootanomyia sp. but she was about 12-14mm inc. ovipositor. Any ideas ā¦Gavin Broadā© ?

The ā€˜Year of the Spiderā€™ for me. Never thought Royal Mail would go with idea of a ā€˜Spidersā€™ stamp issue (canā€™t show any images yet)! Followed soon after by Pocket Guide to British Spiders. ā¦BASā© ā¤ļø spiders
