My Old Front Line Podcast isn't scripted so I'm actually enjoying reading the new podcast transcripts provided by Apple Podcasts, and reading this bit again about the Great War veterans I knew brought a lump to my throat, just as when I was recording it. I was so lucky back then.
It's the final week of Barnsley Book festival and what a book festival it's been! We're really excited to welcome Richard van Emden to Library @ the Lightbox on Saturday 23rd March at 2.30pm for our final event.
Taking place later this month!

As it's #WorldBookDay I must select a book from my favourite author and #WW1 Historian Richard van Emden. The 2021 revised edition of Boy Soldiers is a culmination of decades of work and research by the author on this subject (and his hobby!).
It really is a masterpiece.
‘The Cellar House of Pervyse’, by Elsie Knocker (later Baroness T’Serclaes) & Mairi Chisolm - two remarkable women who ran a Belgian Army first aid post during the FWW, signed by both and many of their fellow medical staff and patients. From GWH Collection📕
