British blockhouse at Robecq on the Lys battlefield. Constructed in late 1917. A number of them were built but only a few remain in this area. Note “silent pickets” inside.

Yesterday we walked the Arras battlefield to Commonwealth War Graves Fampoux British Cemetery. Where 4th Division reached on 9th April 1917. Close to the site of the Hyderabad redoubt that dominated the battlefield but was taken on this day.

Yesterday we walked the battlefield of Poelcappelle and described the dreadful conditions both sides experienced in October 1917. Beyond belief really. Then found the location of a British tank that remained there for many years.
Today we go to the Arras battlefield

At half time yesterday Lucca came up to me and said “stop them arguing Terry make them all shake hands.” After 34 years of reffing I’ve finally received some good advice…..

Made my day he did!

Three extremely poor open goals missed by Nottingham Forest players – which we simply cannot accept. We warned the PGMOL that Chris Wood is a Man City fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options.” 🥲

In this podcast we discuss the sinking of HMS India. How did the survivors cope with being interned for 3 years? How did they keep themselves occupied? We find out. We also look at 2 family pilgrimages I guided this week and discuss their stories.

As it is I thought I would publish again a podcast I recorded last year. We tell the story of Villers Bretonneux through the eyes of the soldiers who were there.

An emotional final stop on our Northampton Royal British Legion tour today Commonwealth War Graves Tank Cemetery, Guemappe. George was KIA during Battle of and his Grandson read the poem in the photo. He knelt at the grave, just as it said in the poem. Never forget these moments in time.
