British #ww1 blockhouse at Robecq on the Lys battlefield. Constructed in late 1917. A number of them were built but only a few remain in this area. Note “silent pickets” inside.

Yesterday we walked the Arras battlefield to Commonwealth War Graves Fampoux British Cemetery. Where 4th Division reached on 9th April 1917. Close to the site of the Hyderabad redoubt that dominated the battlefield but was taken on this day. #ww1

At 7.30 this morning we walked up to Lochnager Crater. Everything was still in the sunshine. All you could hear was birdsong…Friends Of Lochnagar The Lochnagar Crater Foundation #Somme #ww1

Yesterday we walked the #WW1 battlefield of Poelcappelle and described the dreadful conditions both sides experienced in October 1917. Beyond belief really. Then found the location of a British tank that remained there for many years. #ypres

My Dad was born 100 years ago and lived to be 88. He served in Japan after #WW2 at Hiroshima helping the locals rebuild their city. He was and still is my inspiration in life. I owe him so much. On his last visit abroad we visited the #Somme battlefields together.

The Commonwealth War Graves Arras Flying Services Memorial this afternoon where we told the story of Lt Philip Manfield from Northampton on our Royal British Legion battlefield tour. #ww1

An emotional final stop on our Northampton Royal British Legion #WW1 tour today Commonwealth War Graves Tank Cemetery, Guemappe. George was KIA during Battle of #Arras and his Grandson read the poem in the photo. He knelt at the grave, just as it said in the poem. Never forget these moments in time.
