The weekly #drought monitor update: Current classifications and the change in class change since last week. A few areas of improvement in the northern U.S., but many areas of degradation in the South and Atlantic coast.

~ The Kansas Legislature is Broken ~ Several Kansans who signed up to give testimony for a hearing (despite less than 24-hours of public notice) were not allowed to speak & then the committee immediately passed out the bill.

Four straight days of wind gusting over 30mph (Tue-Fri) at Salina, worse to the west. Forecasted precipitation, almost none. Dirty thirties feel. Following week doesn't look any less windy either. #kswx

Fuels advisory has been issued for KS/NE. Critically dry fuels exist across the region. When combined with increased fire weather, extreme fire behavior likely. Fire fighters must take extra precautions when responding to fire starts. predictiveservices.nifc.gov/fuels_fire-dan… #kswx #ksfire

You might know that we're heading towards a possible rail strike. What most of the media might not tell you is why. Railroad workers have been working for 3 years without a contract, and now railroad companies are holding the economy hostage to deny them a single sick day. 🧵
