Exclusive Frontier checks for British travellers to Europe next summer could take 4x longer than now. Reason: the UK asked to be treated as a "3rd country" after Brexit so subject to the fingerprinting and face biometric checks of the new Entry Exit System independent.co.uk/travel/news-an…

LOTS of gas flowing into the UK today from continental Europe 👇 Same thing for electricity. A reminder that far from disconnecting itself from Europe, when it comes to energy - perhaps the most important item of all - the UK remains very reliant on its neighbours. Esp in winter.

Like Boris Johnson's US trade deal, an Indian FTA "by Diwali" has failed to materialise. The only all "new" post-Brexit FTA, with Australia, "was not actually a very good deal for the UK", according to Brexiteer George Eustice. It will boost UK GDP by 0.08%.

When I ran Remain-Labour, our core message was that Brexit would: "hit hardest thse who have least". Sadly, that is exactly what has happened. To rebuild the economy and our public services, a closer and stronger relationship with the EU is essential. itv.com/news/2022-12-2…

"We run a social enterprise from the UK, which imports tea from all over the world. Half our profits go to support schools in tea growing regions." So, what has the Brexit deal done for the Agarwals from Reading? Made life dramatically more difficult 👇 theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/d…

“I simply can’t keep quiet about the immense damage Brexit is doing. Ministers seem to have developed selective amnesia when it comes to one of the root causes of our problems. Brexit can’t be airbrushed out of history or the consequences wished away.” ~AA theguardian.com/politics/live/…

Good to hear Keir Starmer say "The deal we have the EU is causing damage and we have to repair it". Very clear that he supports a closer trading relationship. The existing deal has to be renegotiated in 2025 and that provides an opportunity for a Labour government. #BBCLauraK

Brexit would never have happened if public service anti-union ballot laws imposed by the Tories on teachers, rail workers, nurses, etc had applied. The 51.9% Out vote on a 72.2% turnout was only 37.5% of the electorate, below the 40% threshold demanded for workers to strike.

Stop me if you've heard this one before. Government ignores own scientific advisers to "approve the use of a banned bee-killing pesticide just days after the European Union’s highest court blocked its deployment on the continent." inews.co.uk/news/environme…
