The "how systemic vs contextual are my verbs" answer is totally on point, but we can abstract further. I think its down to mental engagement. Are there several valid answers to a problem / does the solution to the problem require analysis? Or can i turn my brain off and mash?

When we Quest Designers say that we don't just work on the story of a quest, but also script its events, this is the tool we use for it. Every quest you find in The Witcher 3 was built using our quest editor, so thanks to Mátyás' tutorial, you can check it out yourself in Redkit

#Ridge: How much has tax gone up, under the Tories, since 2019? Bim Afolami(Tory): It's difficult to calculate... SR: It's gone by £13,000 per household.... £2,000 sounds like a bit of a bargain. #politicshub

The time to figure things out is early, when things are not super integrated, when the team is not huge. When teams rush to grow their size and start churning out CONTENT as quickly as possible before the foundation is set, it’s always always always a mess.

I've been seeing all these cool trends over the past few days and now I can finally be part of it My game pitch in 5 words: "Brutalist Prince of Persia"

Money people think that if you skip pre-pro you are saving time and money and getting to market faster. But that’s almost never what happens. People churn on content and systems for 2x as long (generously) and it comes out later and more expensive. Dumb.

Hot take, but I feel for those looking to break into the industry, you will get better advice on where/how to apply from juniors who just got into the industry in the last 2/3 years than a senior dev Senior devs for what studios look for, but junior devs for what actually works

Great interview with Shawn Laden - he's been a canary in the coal mine for the current state of AAA video games. I also saw this coming with the sheer amount of work required for incremental improvements in characters so decided to try something different. youtube.com/watch?v=GEN1F2…

Kojima designing the maps and camera positions for Metal Gear Solid with Lego is one of my fave behind the scenes gamedev moments

Got an opening for a Level Designer here at Naughty Dog. Being a level designer here is one of the most gratifying, fulfilling and rewarding experiences I’ve had in my career. Would love to hear from you if that sounds like your kind of thing. 🐾 #leveldesign

Modern AAA videogames requires people with such high specialization that their usefulness drops dramatically when it's time for them to make their own games with a small team.

Surprisingly rare. Also a big part of my definition of what a director does; playing the role of the first player. It would be lovely if this was a more universal skill / focus than it is.
