one of those strategies is to 🌳 PLANT 🌳 MORE 🌳 TREES 🌳 we communally set a goal of planting 24,000 trees on public property within five years. but a goal without a plan is just a wish. and our stakeholders had goals and wishes, but they also had plans and so did we. 3/

our RVAH2O stakeholders and partners blew this goal out of the water, and well in advance of our ideal timeline. to-date, we've planted 35,870 trees across Richmond. we achieved our goal by 149.5% 👏🎉🌳 these trees bring an additional 120.3 acres of tree canopy. 4/

tracking all these trees is detailed, and we are grateful to so many amazing partners for helping us to track this data. thank you, thank you, thank you Reforest Richmond, Southside ReLeaf, Richmond VA DPW, RVA Parks & Recreation, James River Assoc, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and so, so many more. 5/5

If anything, more trees are needed in Mosby Court & nearby areas to help combat the heat island effect--a legacy of red-lining that creates hotter temperatures that threaten residents' health & raises the flood risk because there's too much asphalt & too little vegetation. (2/2)
