This has been a body representing tendencies across the organization managing to work together to produce something we can all be proud of. We’ve shown that while DSA is a profoundly politically contentious space, we can find common ground and do what’s best for the organization.

If there's going to be rule by caucuses and their activist-leaders instead of rule by the whole membership directly, we absolutely need rules that govern how caucuses can function relative to DSA -- especially internal campaign finance rules!!

Atlanta, we did it! 🎉 Last night, our grassroots campaign won in a landslide, with 64% of the vote in a crowded field. I’m so proud to become the first Democratic Socialist elected to Atlanta City Council, and to win with the backing of such a broad progressive coalition of

unions, housing activists, climate organizers, and regular working people who want to build an Atlanta for the 99%. This decisive victory marks a historic turning point in Atlanta city politics.

Right now, our city has the highest wealth gap in the nation, the cost of housing is through the roof, and we’re decades behind on public transit. It’s clear the status quo isn’t working – and District 2 voters showed this last night.

Our campaign proudly championed housing justice, Beltline Rail, workers’ rights and more, and didn’t shy away from taking clear, progressive stances. This is why we won.

I’m so grateful to every volunteer, donor, endorsing organization, and voter who supported us in this race. When working people organize and come together, we can beat the establishment.

We knocked 35,000 doors with the help of 200+ volunteers, and outraised th field with $247K – even despite facing wealthy and well-connected opposition. It’s time for a new chapter, Atlanta! Together, we can win an Atlanta that works for the 99%, not the billionaires.
