Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA Sometime in my late 20s
Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA 14, I had a double lung collapse from them. Died and came back and realized I am not like the others.
Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA My entire life but it really hit me in spurts: 8, 12, 15, 21.
Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA My 1st hint was in high school when I had my 1st #GERD attack. I couldn't explain it properly & the hospital just gave me meds to make me sleep. Later in my 20's when I demanded a laparoscopy, 2 rare conditions were found.
Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA At 2 years of age when it came to light that I already HAD multiple medical conditions and that my battle was just starting
Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA In high school, when I started taking myself to appointments/ picking up my own meds. All the different waiting rooms & conversations. Eye opening
Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA I was 7, staring at my pediatrician, who was stuttering in an effort to come up with another lie instead of admitting that he yet again didn't have a clue. I'd been bringing him complex issues and hearing lies for at least 4 years, but mom said I'd been complicated from birth.
Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA I was born this Way
Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA Hmm 2001 into 2004 and then onward from those periods.
Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA Not until the last two years. I'm almost 63. I've always been tired as an adult, after a near-fatal case of mono in 1978. I just thought I was tired because I was a single mom of a very difficult child. But post-COVID, I'm tired in a way I couldn't have imagined possible.
Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA And I now realize that I was always this "brand" of tired, unable to figure out how other people get so much done when I have trouble getting through each day with just the basic activities of living. I've always wondered, "Where do they get the energy?"
Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA I must have always had CFS, but when I was in my 20s, CFS was believed to be psychosomatic, so I never considered I might have it. I thought it wasn't "real." Plus, I have severe ADHD. I have trouble just showering twice a week and eating 2X a day. It's not living, just existing.
Rebecca Randel, MPH, BCPA Being patient and believing that it's not in her/his head, that she/he is sick, despite the countless times they try to dissuade her/his otherwise. 😉💜
