The pioneers who created historical NFTs were after neither fame nor fortune. They were solely motivated by the excitement of experimenting with a blossoming new technology. This rare authenticity is reflected in their work and is part of what makes these early relics so special.

We went from telling artists that Web3 cares about them & they can finally earn a living from their art for life - directly incentivizing them to keep creating & showing up. To asking artists for utility & taking away their royalties. Great job, phenomenal work, lost the plot!

If royalties are null, there’s no incentive to keep building for the long term. If royalties are null, there’s no incentive to list accessibly priced work/collections. Short term, extractive thinking will destroy what we are creating hereβ€”for artists, for buyers, for platforms.

Would encourage artists to fight back by blocking their work from being sold on platforms with no royalties and will be doing the same. You are part of the history of this movement, and good boy/good girl points with collectors now aren’t worth the regret you’ll feel in a decade.

Artists been dying poor while people continue to make millions off their work but god forbid people change that with royalties and it’s all β€œartists bad”

β€œWhy duz an arteest need royalties forever?” Why do rich people and auction houses get to perpetually flip a guy who died 100-400 years ago paintings for millions?

Do you get the impression the #yootlist is starting to look like a an arbitrary selection of a privileged few? Don’t come at me. Just a question.

A lot of folks here haven’t had to start anything from absolute scratch before and it shows. Royalties help folks without connections or start up money successfully get off the ground w/o funding from web2 means.
