I'm a psychologist w/actual expertise in this area. There is NO evidence that gender dysphoria commonly develops secondary to mental health conditions. There IS evidence that dysphoria, non-affirmation, & bias CONTRIBUTE to the development of mental health conditions. Infuriating

it is a sad day for radical, not-for-profit media (but also this seems strangely inevitable in this industry)

I'm sorry to hear Peter Higgs has died. He was my neighbour and we chatted about this and that.
What I never told him was that seeing him pass by James Clerk Maxwell's house, shopping bag in hand was, for me, like watching Einstein walk past Newton's apple tree.

My big takeaway from the Cass review is that this is hugely dangerous for not just Gillick competence, but for the presumed medical competence of *adults* full stop - Because if a 24yo can't meaningfully consent to a mastectomy, how could they ever consent to an abortion?

The final report for the Cass review repeatedly cites (academically published) research by open members of a pseudoscientific anti trans advocacy network.

Love that for us that that's a thing that can happen.
