A perfect example of how people will default to an egocentric worldview

In this case, 'I don't do anything useful and still get paid, so obviously everyone else is doing the same'

The latest Why Does This Thing Exist? (Podcast) packs a lot of heat. Literally and metaphorically.

Not that that's a *good* thing. Unless you're going to the arctic, or space? Then the more heat you can pack, the better

Anyway, here's a listen for your commute, and whatnot.

Is it just me, or does coffee with some but *insufficient* milk taste stronger than straightforward black coffee?

Wondering if it's worth putting a research proposal together, is all

'You become so conscious of your brain and the way you think….but even going to the stadium, I’d struggle with the noise and be down for a couple of days.”

Dane Coles, 37, says he visited “some dark places” during a 4-month concussion recovery but has decided not to retire.

My friend Benjamin Partridge has been making the brilliant Beef & Dairy Network podcast for ages. But it peaked yesterday as the actual Ted Danson is in yesterday’s episode. As you can imagine, it’s fantastic

Inhibiting a natural bodily process is literally how you treat cancer.

It's also how anti-inflammatories work.

And antihistamines.

And analgesics.

In fact, a lot of medicine is basically an attempt to stop the body doing unhelpful crap

The only point of this announcement, and all the govt's other stupid announcements over the last year or so, is to grab headlines from hired guns at the Telegraph and create 'wedge issues' at the election with Labour. Sociopathy masquerading as policy. Politics as parasitism.

This is insane shit. 'Access to treatment'. What? People with debilitating health conditions should already be getting access to NHS treatment, and if not, that'll be because of long waiting lists, which twiddling with PIP rules doesn't solve.

Sunak is an absolute clowndork.

I did a talk for the European Commission yesterday. Hundreds of influential policy makers, using my insights to affect a whole continent.

Did this picture feature prominently? Yes, yes it did

Forget AI, this will be how the world ends

By the end of the day, I will have been in 4 different countries by train.

More a reflection of just how small and cramped Europe is than how fast trains are. But still!

Even though I'm in Brussels right now speaking to members of the European Commission, I assure you this is a coincidence

[Me, before watching ]

'Gambit? Oh yeah, the French-ish guy. He's OK. Bit over the top at times, but not the worst side character]

[Me, after watching ]

'GAMBIT IS THE MOST EPIC BADASS TO EVER GRACE THE SCREEN AND I'LL PHYSICALLY FIGHT ANYONE WHO ARGUES!'

The residents of Jupiter are probably way less concerned about eclipses than we are.
A much smaller sun, 95 moons, and a lot more planet to stand on. I bet seeing an eclipse to them is like seeing a magpie is to us.

I had the rare honour of providing the cover story for the latest issue of BBC Science Focus Magazine magazine.

No jokes or ironic self-deprecation this time. I just think it's cool whenever a talented artist lends their skill to my efforts.

When we first became parents, wife and I would regularly say 'We'll be less stressed and strung out as soon as we catch up on sleep'

12 years later... well, that might still be the case. We wouldn't know.

Thing is, I'm invariably happy to do talks for people, on any subject I know about, for any potential audience.

I just usually prefer it if people let me know they'd like me to do a talk directly. I shouldn't find out via the Social Media posts advertising it.
