Prepping an Enlightenment syllabus after having recently finished “Untamed” and suddenly struck by the similarities in Doyle’s “Knowing” and Kant’s “self-incurred immaturity.” Not necessarily about faith, but about the courage to think for oneself 🤔 Sapere aude, Cheetahs!

Learning that one of the more terrifying parts of teaching a survey course is that undergraduates can ask you about literally anything that has happened in European history since the beginning of time 🤷🏼‍♀️

Especially grateful for colleagues that push, encourage, and teach me - I learn so much from @lisa_staedtler + Dr Anna McEwan + Lea Börgerding every time we meet!

Today was an important reminder that “getting through all my lecture notes” isn’t the point of this whole teaching history thing. Deeply saddened by what’s unfolding, but encouraged by the questions and conversations had with students.

Researching East German “Gartenzwerg” today and honestly can’t think of a more delightful start to the weekend 🍄

Finally got to assign a podcast episode with Johanna Mellis in one of my classes. Her work on Hungarian athletes during the Cold War is fascinating and the students loved it! Thank you to all public historians who make their work accessible 🙌🏼
