Happy Pub Day to the next book in my Meet the Universe series, “I’m a Black Hole”!!

With beautiful, immersive illustrations by Jessica Lanan 🌍, “I’m a Black Hole” teaches the basics in approachable rhyming text, w/a deep dive in the back for curious kids (and adults!)

Thrilled to announce an event I've long been thinking about! Join us at Yale University for a 'Hack Day Conference,' in which a group of educators come together to build resources and exercises for teaching research methods in astronomy. See astrocodex.github.io for more. A 🧵

Awhile ago a friend found a very solid dinosaur coprolite (on private leased land, Judith River fm) that I got and had sliced and polished. What's really cool is there are chunks of broken dinosaur bone in the middle of the coprolite.

A press conference from Michael Calzadilla shows for the first time that the entropy threshold for cooling in galaxy clusters (the “trigger for star formation”) has existed for the last 10 bill years! The trigger for black hole feedback, on the other hand, may be recent

Our new simulation suite models early chemical enrichment in dwarf galaxies with feedback/enrichment from individual stars! & detailed treatment of stellar yields with 10 different metals!

Keep an eye out for the first two Aeos Simulation papers coming out soon (🤞)

.Dr. Mia de los Reyes shows us that we have to revisit conventional methods of measuring dwarf galaxy properties such as stellar mass! Many empirical relations under predict dwarf galaxy masses
